Reading is also home to the gaol in which Oscar Wilde was imprisoned for homosexuality and where he composed his famous ballad. For those who like to do a bit of shopping you can head to The Oracle, the town’s new shopping centre and there is also Broad Street an outdoor pedestrianized street packed with small quaint boutique stores and high street brands alike.
For those that prefer the outdoors much of Reading’s country side is now part of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Cotswolds being easily reachable. This area is great for long walks or bike rides, with some very special views to be seen.
